THE VALUE OF ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE.
Capital is born from Febal Casa’s design vision, giving shape to a dialogue between historic architecture and contemporary design. The project embraces the identity of the building, preserving its defining features—including the original herringbone parquet flooring, wall panelling, decorative mouldings and architectural proportions—and making them the foundation of the entire interior concept.
Rather than transforming the space, Capital enhances its existing character, demonstrating how a contemporary design language can integrate seamlessly within a distinguished architectural setting while preserving its authentic identity.
A conservation-led approach informs every design decision. Symmetry, carefully framed perspectives and material continuity establish a refined balance between heritage and contemporary living. A restrained palette, conceived to harmonise with the building’s original materials, creates a cohesive narrative throughout the home, while the interplay of dark wood, stone and lacquered surfaces introduces depth, rhythm and visual richness.
PERSPECTIVES THAT SHAPE THE EXPERIENCE OF LIVING.
The entrance opens onto an intimate yet representative living area, composed around a balanced arrangement of symmetrical elements that enhances the apartment’s original spatial proportions. The Cloud sofa engages in dialogue with Bontempi’s Lady armchairs, creating an elegant and welcoming composition, while the Trenta bookcase becomes an architectural backdrop that guides the eye and organises the space.
Silver Travertine Bush-Hammered porcelain stoneware, featured on the bookcase back panels, introduces the material thread that runs throughout the apartment. At the entrance, the Charlotte bookcase and selected Bontempi furnishings complete an environment where every element contributes to a coherent and harmonious design language.
THE LANGUAGE OF CONTINUITY.
Every room is conceived as part of a single architectural vision. Materials, finishes and colour tones reappear naturally throughout the apartment, creating visual continuity that accompanies the transition from the living and dining areas to the kitchen and private quarters.
Travertine, neutral lacquered finishes and wood veneers interact in perfect balance, allowing each space to retain its own identity while contributing to a seamless residential narrative.
The dining area extends the story of the living space through a composition where materials and proportions remain in constant dialogue. The Sessanta bookcase introduces new design possibilities, while the Talos table and Opera chairs by Bontempi define a refined setting dedicated to conviviality and shared living.
DEPTH TAKES SHAPE.
Separated from the living area by a newly introduced wall featuring integrated panelling, the Origina kitchen is incorporated into the apartment with understated elegance and compositional balance. The peninsula’s insert elements create a sophisticated interplay of surfaces and depth, where light enhances the dialogue between Rovere Terra oak and Silver Travertine Bush-Hammered porcelain stoneware. Full-height PET Bronzo columns complete the composition, reinforcing visual continuity while expressing an elegant material presence.
More than a functional environment, the kitchen is conceived as an integral part of the home’s architecture, seamlessly integrating with the historic character of the residence.
TRAVERTINE AS THE UNIFYING MATERIAL THREAD.
The central peninsula interprets travertine as an architectural element. The material flows seamlessly across the worktop, backsplash and peninsula side panel, becoming a distinctive design gesture that connects furniture and architecture.
The Boiserie system with the Systema rail, together with the composition itself, reinforces this continuity, allowing the kitchen to become a natural extension of the apartment as a whole.
THE VALUE OF CONTRAST.
The sleeping area develops the compositional principle that defines the entire apartment, using the contrast between materials and tones to shape the identity of the space. The Jacques bed and Pat bedroom collection combine Rovere Dark oak with Silver Travertine Bush-Hammered porcelain stoneware, creating depth through the dialogue between dark wood finishes and a restrained neutral palette—a refined composition that enhances the contemporary character of the furnishings.
THE LIGHTNESS OF STORAGE.
The Aurora wardrobe and walk-in wardrobe complete the sleeping area through glazed surfaces, Carbon Grey profiles and Eucalyptus interiors, visually lightening the volumes while transforming wardrobe organisation into an integral part of the home’s architecture.
Capital demonstrates how interior design can enhance an existing architectural setting without compromising its identity.
